Largely a self taught fine arts photographer, I was fortunate to study with George Tice, Via Wynroth, Patt Blue and Sandy Noyes at the International Center of Photography and the New School in NYC. My educational background is in psychology where I specialized in existential phenomenology. I started showing my work in 1980 with a one-woman show at the 4th Street Photo Gallery in NYC under the direction of Alex Harsley. The work for most of my 20 shows has been of hand colored black and white photography. I’ve had 5 one woman shows and participated in 15 group shows. I worked for 10 years at the Alumni Council of Princeton University, where I also had a one woman show at the Bernstein Gallery in 1993. In 1981, I was given a NJ State Council of the Arts Grant in Photography.
In most of my work I attempt to embody memories, dreams & personal history. I have had a life long love for the elegance found in nature: it’s form, symmetry, color & mystery. I’d like to echo Minor White: “All photographs are self portraits.”
